Workshop: Climate Resilience in the Bosnian Road Network
Final workshop and presentation of results on Climate Resilience in the Bosnian Road Network were organized today in the business premises of the PC Roads of the Federation of BH Ltd.
The project was funded with the grant funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as a part of the Loan Agreement concluded between the EBRD and Bosnia and Herzegovina for Federation Road Modernization Project. In this regard, the EBRD has engaged the Swedish Road Administration Sweroad to support the PC Roads of the FBH and introduce the best international practice for identifying and managing climate risks to road infrastructure.
As part of the workshop, the Action Plan for Climate Resilience of the Road Network in the Federation of BH was presented. The Action Plan, prepared in the context of technical support provided by the EBRD, describes the specific actions that PC Roads of FBH intends to take to ensure the climate resilience of the main road network. The Action Plan supports the implementation of the objectives of the BH Transport Framework Strategy and is harmonized with the Climate Change Adaptation and Low Emission Development Strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Main activities have been identified in close cooperation with the PC Roads of FBH. Risk assessment and vulnerability mapping methodologies for the selected pilot sections of the main roads in FBH have been presented at the workshop.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of FBH, the PC Roads of the FBH, the Federal Administration of Civil Protection and the Federal Hydro-Meteorological Institute of BH.
